Ela Kır is a 24 year old Turkish / British filmmaker who was born in Istanbul, but spent most of her childhood in South Africa, she now lives in the UK. Her passion for the visual arts and storytelling started at a very young age. Her dedication enabled her to build a substantial portfolio which led her to start university at the age of 16. She graduated from the University of Essex after completing a Film Studies BA Hons degree. Her final year project led her to graduate with a departmental award for the best independent project. In 2018 her documentary A Little Bit Like Calm was screened at film festivals around the world, and was selected as the best international documentary at Mojo Italia Film Festival. Her recent film Seriously, 2020... was screened at numerous film festivals and featured on Manchester Metropolitan University's Place 2020 exhibition, and won the documentary award at Prodigy Film Festival.
