Prague is one of those cities that feels like a dream... cobblestoned streets, fairytale castles, and beauty in every corner.
Whether you’re visiting Prague for a romantic escape, a cityscape or a slow weekend break, here are a few of my favourite things to do that made the trip feel really special.
Also - be sure to check out my Prague posts and story highlights for more exclusive tips and a closer look into all of the spots at @Ela_Kir.
1. Rent a Pedal Boat on the Vltava
I got mine from Slovanský Island and spent an hour floating past beautiful views of the islands, the Dancing House, the canal locks (only see, you can’t go in) and of course views to the Charles Bridge. We ended up renting a pedal boat twice during the trip since we really enjoyed it - super romantic and peaceful! You might see lots of nutrias around the islands - I still can't decide if they're super cute or creepy 😂
2. Stay at Augustine, a Luxury Collection Hotel
Augustine Hotel is set in a 13th-century monastery in the heart of Malá Strana, this hotel is something else. I stayed in the Tower Suite, which has 360° views across Prague and a spiral staircase leading up to the bedroom: like having your own private fairytale tower. The interiors were warm, elegant, and so quiet it felt like a retreat from the city, even though everything was just a short walk away. If you’re after a truly unique stay, this is the one.
BEAUTIFUL GARDENS OF PRAGUE: WALDSTEIN GARDENS & The VRTBA GARDENS
Tucked away in the heart of Prague, the Waldstein Gardens and Vrtba Gardens offer a serene escape from the city's bustle, each with its own unique charm. The Waldstein Gardens, part of the grand 17th-century palace complex, are a hidden gem of Baroque design, complete with elegant statues, roaming peacocks, and a striking grotto wall. Just a short stroll away, the Vrtba Gardens enchant with their terraced beauty, one of the oldest and most beautiful Baroque gardens in Prague, perched on the slope of Petrín Hill with sweeping views over the red rooftops of Malá Strana. Whether you're wandering through ivy-framed staircases or pausing to admire the symmetry and sculpture, both gardens offer a peaceful, picture-perfect stop steeped in history and charm.
Watch the Sunset from Charles Bridge
Golden hour on Charles Bridge is pure magic. The light spills across the statues, street musicians begin to play, and the whole city feels like it’s glowing. Tbh I loved it more at night though, it felt like being in a fairytale having the bridge too urselves. Super romantic and cinematic! Some spontaneous photos below.
5. Wander Through Old Town Square
It’s busy, yes, but there’s a reason it’s iconic. The Old Town Square is postcard-perfect, from the Astronomical Clock that performs on the hour, to the surrounding churches and colourful buildings. We loved going to the top of town hall for a beautiful view of old town!
Climb Petrín Hill for a View Over the City
You can take the funicular up or walk (we walked and it was long but nice!) and at the top you’ll find gardens, a rose park, and a mini Eiffel Tower. From the top platform, the views stretch across Prague’s terracotta rooftops and winding streets. It’s such a romantic spot, we had a beer at the top overlooking the beautiful views of Prague. There was also a artsy spot we found here called Magical Cavern, it was a great spot for photos but in all honesty - quite overpriced and a tourist trap. Still a nice spot to see some fantasy art and get nice pics though!
Eat Beautifully – My Favourite Spots to Wine & Dine
I wasn’t expecting to fall for Prague’s food scene as much as I did. From historic courtyards to warm, modern bistros, each meal felt like an experience in itself. Nestled against the hotel’s courtyard, this all‑day dining spot sits under a glass ceiling with protected trees, transforming a 13th‑century monastery space into something lush and serene. Chef Jan Horák leads a menu rooted in modern Czech cuisine, with local, seasonal ingredients, and they even host seasonal events, like Sunday brunch with live piano and bottomless champagne, garden BBQs, and multi‑course tasting menus.
This one completely caught me off guard, in the BEST way. It’s an art deco-style restaurant tucked away just off Wenceslas Square, and it blends elegance with a modern menu that still manages to feel indulgent. I loved the soft lighting, the crystal details, and the calm, intimate vibe. Also, everything we tried here was absolutely delicious - from starters to mains to dessert to cocktails! They have really fun themed cocktails too which I'd recommend trying.
It's perfect for a casual tank beer with friends - think authentic goulash, schnitzel, and tasting boards and friendly service and good vibes. It has such a cool, modern feel. I went in for a casual dinner and loved the mix of Czech comfort dishes done really well. It felt really local.
Honestly? My favourite moments weren’t always the big ones. They were the scooter rides around the city, the slow walks with no destination, turning down tiny alleyways, stumbling into quiet courtyards, and finding random cute cafés I’ll probably never find again. Prague is made for wandering. Don’t over-plan, just give yourself time to explore, and the magic will find you.
As always,
